Zolita Sverdlove graduated Cooper Union Art School in NYC in 1956 and became a prolific artist with over 1,000 oil paintings and over 3,000 works on paper. She spent thirty years painting in South Pasadena from 1979 to 2009 when she died of cancer. She used oil paint, watercolors, linoleum block, copper etchings, woodblock, litho stones, drawings, and mono prints through her printing press in her studio on Indiana Avenue. Her landscapes are really cloudscapes because the lit up clouds at sunset dominate the space. She did many hundreds of still life, often using persimmons and pomegranates. Her style was expressionistic with bold strokes yet always representational.
