Young Stars Theatre Academy is thrilled to announce a special, two-cast production of the beloved classic The Sound of Music. Featuring separate shows, one with a talented youth cast and another casted traditionally (with adult actors). With soaring melodies, unforgettable characters, and the timeless story of love, courage, and the hills coming alive, this unique performance offers audiences two distinctive ways to experience the magic of this cherished musical.

Youth Cast Performance: An inspiring collaboration with highly talented local youth. 14-year-old Caighsi Currie, who plays Maria, is mesmerizing and perfect for the role.

The youth cast will take the stage for the next two weeks. February 7th and 8th at 7pm, February 14th and 15th at 7pm, and Sunday February 16th at 2pm. This show provides a wonderful opportunity for young performers to demonstrate their talent while engaging with the community and sharing the joy of theatre.

Traditional Cast Performance: For those seeking a more classic rendition, YSTA is excited to present a traditional casted show as well.

“The exciting part about this cast is it is composed of many former students who have aged out of my program, current students, and their actor parents as well. The singing is really out of this world fantastic. Miranda Miller, who performs in productions all over Los Angeles, is magical as Maira.” says Director Gloria Bennett.

The traditional cast performances will run Thursday, February 6th at 7pm, Saturday, February 8th at 2pm, Thursday, February 13th at 7pm, Saturday, February 15th at 2pm and Sunday, February 16th at 7pm.

About The Sound of Music: The Sound of Music, written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, tells the story of Maria, a young aspiring nun who is sent to be the governess for the von Trapp family. Amidst the beauty of the Austrian Alps and the backdrop of World War II, Maria brings music and joy into the lives of the von Trapp children—and eventually wins the heart of their widowed father. With songs like “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Climb Every Mountain,” the musical remains a timeless favorite for theatre goers around the world.

Tickets and Information: Tickets for both performances are available now online at www.ystacademy.com/tickets. If you or your family has been affected by the Eaton Fire, we would like to compliment your tickets. Please reach out directly to sarah@joyvisionbrands.com.
