SPARC Gallery @ The South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce
The South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC) presents “The Beautiful Lie,” an exhibition of abstract paintings by fine artist Deborah van der Zaag, opening Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the SPARC Gallery @ The South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, with a reception from 3 to 6 p.m. “The Beautiful Lie” runs through March 29, 2025. Van der Zaag, who taught painting, ceramics and photography at UC Santa Barbara, the Pasadena Art Workshops, and Arroyo Vista School, was a ceramicist for several years before changing her focus to abstract oil painting and photography. “My experience with ceramics and sculpture has informed my approach to painting,” Van der Zaag observed, “and elements from those earlier forms still carry through my current work.”
The SPARC Gallery @ the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce is located at 1121 Mission St.,
South Pasadena, inside the Chamber of Commerce building. (Not to be confused with the
SPARC’s Centre Gallery @ The Fremont Centre, 1000 Fremont Ave., Suite 120, South Pasadena.)
