Over five years in the making, 626 Golden Streets “ArroyoFest” presented by Metro Los Angeles will return on Sunday, October 29, 2023. The first re-staging of ArroyoFest since it was first hosted in 2003, the event will open the historic Arroyo Seco Parkway for people to walk, bike, skate, and scoot on from 7-11am.
Made possible by Metro Los Angeles’ Open Streets program, in coordination with the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) and ActiveSGV, “ArroyoFest” will once again connect the cities of Los Angeles, South Pasadena, and Pasadena via a route along SR-110 from Avenue 26 in Lincoln Heights to Glenarm in Pasadena.
Like cicLAvia in Los Angeles, 626 Golden Streets ArroyoFest is a FREE, family-friendly “ciclovia” that temporarily opens streets for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy in a healthy, fun, and novel fashion. The festivities will kick off at 6:45am with an official Opening Ceremony along the event route adjacent to Orange Grove Park in South Pasadena that will feature local dignitaries including the one-and-only Gabe the Sasquatch, self-proclaimed Mayor of the San Gabriel Mountains.
The event is free to the general public and easily accessible via the following Metro A Line stations: Lincoln Cypress, Southwest Museum, and South Pasadena. Attendees can start and stop at any point along the route. Three Activity Hubs will feature cultural performances, family-friendly games and activities, green vendors and community groups, and more.
Participants are encouraged to enjoy the day by foot, bike, skate, skateboard, scooter, or any other form of active mobility. Southbound lanes will be reserved for pedestrians including people on foot, wheelchairs, and young children. Northbound lanes will be reserved for wheeled devices including bicycles, scooters, and skateboards. San Gabriel Valley residents in need of a bicycle for the day may reserve a GoSGV pedal-assist electric bicycle at the South Pasadena activity hub. A map of alternate routes for vehicles during the event can be found here.
