Sincerely, Vavé: South Pasadena’s Favorite Florist
Meet Patrice Veyna and Jessica van Alderwerelt, founders of Vavé Events, (formely known as Vavé Studios)!
How did your business get started?:
Jessica & Patrice met at Pepperdine University and soon after became best friends. Patrice was a Theatre Major and Jessica was Business and Economics. Some would say they were polar opposites but somehow they complemented each other. After college Patrice took some floral design classes for fun and friends began to ask her to do the flowers for their events and weddings. One winter day Jessica and Patrice flew to Hawaii, where they were bridesmaids in their friends wedding. The bride came to them the day of the wedding with a bunch of fresh cut flowers with no idea what to do with them. Patrice told Jessica she was going to be her assistant in creating the bouquets and centerpieces. Jessica was intimidated at first because she thought she did not have a creative bone in her body. However the florals for that wedding ignited an inner artist Jessica never knew was in her. When Jessica got back to California she started researching the floral and wedding industry and soon started texting Patrice nonstop about how this was a huge business opportunity. Patrice Agreed and Vavé Studios was formed, now known as Vavé Events. Patrice and Jessica started with Florals and now have expanded to planning, design and coordinate weddings and events.
Provide a brief description of your services or products:
The most beautiful weddings are those that are authentic to the couple, which is why everything Jessica & Patrice create for their clients are custom. They love to incorporate those special little details that make their clients events & wedding day perfect. They are best known for their florals but actually do so much more. From design and coordinating to full service planning, they can produce your special day from top to bottom.
With years experience and designing over 300+ weddings & event, they have learned how to utilize each and every detail and bloom. Through our experience, they have discovered how to best highlight each detail of the event and to create the most dynamic floral arrangements and event. Whatever your style, they love to collaborate with each client to design and execute the perfect day with the most beautiful florals and accents.
What inspires your continued work in this field of business?:
Finding new things in nature and at the flower market inspire Patrice & Jessica’s continued work. They love to create floral pieces that wow their clients. Each happy client makes them want to create new dynamic events. Also the idea of being part of someone’s love or success story is always a plus!
What do you enjoy most about doing business in South Pasadena?:
Vavé Events loves South Pasadena, it is such a charming city. As big lovers of community, they love walking to Fiore for lunch to catch up with Bill, or taking a break to pop into Hot Box and see Delilah. To further cultivate that sense of community in an intimate way, they have opened their doors to two other woman-owned business in South Pasadena— SugarFix LA and Kismet, who also call their beautifully muraled building, home!
Anything else you’d like to tell us about yourself or your business?:
Patrice and Jessica are always wanting to share their experiences with other women in business. Their goal is to venture out and teach others how to coordinate, adapt and maneuver the unique road of entering into entrepreneurship as female business partners. Their next big project is to share their expertise with other women who either want to go into business together or are having trouble navigating the partnership. Starting in September, you will be able to listen to their views on the dynamics of female entrepreneurship and partnership, learn some of their tactics, and hear from other experts as well!
