Tiffany Choy-Unruh was born and raised in Southern California. It was her vigorous Taekwondo training and competitions injuries that first introduced her to Chiropractic. She was amazed at the results from her treatments and was surprised how quickly she was able to recover. By the end of her freshman year in High School, she knew this was the profession that she wanted to be apart of.
Dr. Choy attended California State University, Los Angeles. There she became a research fellow for spinal cord research. In addition to pursuing her degree, Dr. Choy enrolled in the United States Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp at Loyola Marymount University, where she was active in an honorary service club called the Arnold Air Society. But due to medical reasons did not commission as an officer in the Air Force. She continued on to earn her B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in rehabilitation and therapy. Upon graduation, Dr. Choy worked as a Tier 3 personal trainer at Equinox Fitness in Pasadena where she trained clients from various fitness levels and ages and helped reach their fitness goals. As a trainer, she worked with clients with various acute and chronic injuries that would limit their physical abilities. Her experience as a personal trainer reaffirmed her desire to continue onto Chiropractic School.
She enrolled at the Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) in Whittier where she earned a Doctorate in Chiropractic. While as SCU, she was selected to be an intern for the SCU Sports Medicine Department. Dr. Choy had the opportunity to treat athletes at numerous events like AIDS Lifecycle, Wildflower Triathlon, Rock N’ Roll Marathon, and U.S. Taekwondo National Qualifier. She incorporates sports medicine treatments like Kinesiology Taping, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), and Myofascial Release. Dr. Choy is also a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician specializing in treating and preventing sports injuries. To assist her pregnant patients, she became certified in Webster Technique that involves assessment of the pelvis and improve its biomechanics.
Dr. Choy currently lives in Southern California with her family, while practicing in South Pasadena. In addition to private practice, she is a part-time faculty member at SCU, where she is a Supervising Clinician at the University Health Center.
