SATURDAY, MAY 2nd, 2 – 10pm
Mission District in South Pasadena
The South Pasadena Eclectic Music Festival and Art Walk will again bring music and art to the streets of the city on Saturday, May 2 from 2-10pm. Visitors can see more than 30 diverse musical acts across 5 stages, plus many more musicians and artists at intimate venues around the town. There will be open houses at art galleries and studios and everything is within short walking distance. The family-friendly festival is free to attend and easy to get to – take the Metro Gold Line to South Pasadena and music will greet you at the station.
Headlining this year’s truly eclectic music lineup, Gardens & Villa make a triumphant return to Southern California after a successful national tour and breakthrough appearance at Coachella. Musician and electronic artist Anenon (Brian Allison Simon) combines live performance with layered imagery to create an immersive concert experience. Trumpet artist, composer and producer Daniel Rosenboom has been called “a phenomenon” by the LA Times. Those acts, plus Dublab, artists from the Orenda Records label and many others will perform at stages along Mission Street.
Art Walk events include SoPas Gallery presenting “Dirty Laundry” by artist Lun*ah Menoh whose multi-layered works engage music, sculpture, painting, and fashion. SPACE presents "South Pasadena is For the Birds", a community exhibition and contest to make one-of-a-kind birdhouses, and “Gimme Shelter,” a 30-person group exhibition. BurkeTriolo Studio will simultaneously host the Emerging Artist music stage and feature new works by artists JT Burke and Lorraine Triolo. In addition, there will be events, exhibitions and open houses at Laurie Hendricks Gallery, SoPa Studios and numerous other venues around town.
An array of food trucks will be on hand and dozens of participating merchants will host open houses and extended hours. Visitors to the Festival can stroll the city’s historic downtown business district and enjoy a wide selection of fine restaurants and interesting shops. The festival will take place on Mission Street between Grand Avenue and Fair Oaks Avenue. And parking is always free in South Pasadena.
The Festival is sponsored by the City of South Pasadena, the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and participating local merchants. The Media Sponsor is KPCC 89.3.
